instead of flowers - Dwyer

Words from a distant voice, a sound too far to hear so spoken through my own. Watching through desensitized eye with faces so distinct; bear the uniform like mine. My attire is no surprise. Subsequently draped in the colour of my own voice.

Speak my words. Read my letter.

This music video was filmed and edited for the song Dwyer by my post-punk band instead of flowers. The video showcases dark gothic imagery to compliment the melancholic nature of the song's instrumental as well as it's lyrical concept. I began to experiment with the functionalities of Sony Vegas Pro; focusing on creative use of masking, transitions and speed effects to have multiple layers of footage blend into each other seamlessly. This project also helped my skills in editing video to match the audio as certain edits had to be done to the beat of the music to draw attention to the music and to ultimately create a cohesively edited video.

The visual style was influenced by art house horror films, such as Begotten and Din of Celestial Birds. Whereas the intro's slow build as well as the entire video's pace was largely influenced by the highly conceptual music video for the Death Grips song, Come up and Get Me.
